about the artist
I am a queer, non-binary and Mad-identified visual artist whose practice moves between oil painting, mixed media and installation. My work is grounded in anti-oppressive frameworks and personal narratives with a focus on disability justice, feminism, and LGBTQ+ representation.
Across mediums I approach art-making as a form of care and resistance; a way to hold space for the communities I belong to while simultaneously imagining more expansive modes of being. Rooted in figuration, organic form and maximalist colour, the aesthetic nature of my work mirrors the emotional and political dimensions of my practice: maximalism becomes a refusal of the minimization of queer and Mad presence. I use the body as a site of tenderness, vulnerability and complexity. My practice is an ongoing attempt to translate theoretical practices into intimate, felt experience.
