Untitled (Self-Portrait)
Mixed media on paper, 36 x 48”, 2024
Following a fixation on iterations of queer joy, I felt myself in great contention with my own practice. With Untitled, I decided to explore the longstanding tension between my depressed and ‘core’ self. While the depressive aims to rot and regress, the core self desperately pleads with the depressive to remember what we crave, love and yearn for. This work embodies a still moment between both states.
